Bird flu and blue-ear diseases under control in Viet Nam

Hanoi reports 15 swine flu cases

Fifteen people were hospitalized  this week with swine flu, according to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.


These are the first swine flu patients to be recorded in the capital city in the past six months, Nguyen Hong Ha, vice director of the hospital, said Friday.


Only one of them showed symptoms of pneumonia, while others were admitted with mild ailments, he added.

Medicine mark-up

The price of pharmaceutical products in Vietnam are expected to rise slightly in 2011 due to volatile input material prices and the Vietnam dong-US dollar exchange rate, according to the Vietnam Drug Administration.

Police seek charges against 14 fake drug traders

 

Police in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday asked prosecutors to press charges of producing and trading in fake drugs against 14 people.


A nationwide alert has been sounded for the ring leader, Huynh Ngoc Quang.

 

Investigators said in 2009, Quang and Huynh Van Tien, directors of the Viet Phap Pharmaceutical Company, bought cheap drugs, and then ordered other companies to print packaging to present them as imported ones.
