New medication offers hope for rehabilitation

Drug addicts now have a greater chance to kick their deadly habit since the introduction of a medicine that is effective in preventing relapses. Domestically engineered and produced by the Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 5 in the central city of Da Nang, the drug is called Danapha Natrex 50, and was disco-vered by three young pharmacists: Phung Chat, Phuoc Quang and Minh Hieu, aged 34, 31 and 38 respectively. Similar to methadone, the drug aims to curb the effects of withdrawal and help the body readjust to life without narcotics.
